Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire
Kirkintilloch is a town in the eastern portion of Dunbartonshire. The town stands on the Forth and Clyde Canal, which since it was built in 1773 has been an important element in the town's prosperity and character, and which allowed it to become a port and indeed a centre for boat-building. The town is within the council area of East Dunbartonshire.
