Kirkby Hall, Lancashire

Kirkby Hall is a former 15th-century manor house at Kirkby-in-Furness in Lancashire. It dates from about 1450 and extended in 1530. Kirkby Hall, once the residence of the Kirkby family, is still a working farm. They owned much of the land in the area from the twelfth century through to the eighteenth century when it eventually came in to the ownership of the Cavendish family. Its original name of 'Cross House' derives from a cross which once stood at the south-east angle of the court, overlooking the village green. It is grade I listed. It is within the council area of Westmorland and Furness.
