King's Cross, Middlesex
King's Cross is an urban area in the south-east of the metropolitan district of St Pancras, Middlesex. The name derives from a monument to George IV which stood from 1830-1845 at "the King's crossroads", i.e. where New Road (now Euston Road), Gray's Inn Road and Pentonville Road meet. King's Cross station now stands by the junction where the monument stood and took its name, the name also being applied to the area around the junction. The area is within the council areas of Islington and Camden.
