Kilwee, Antrim

Kilwee is a former hamlet that is now a suburban area, usually considered part of the larger suburban town of Dunmurry, County Antrim. It is also considered a southern suburb of Belfast. It lies within the townlands of Dunmurry and Ballycullo Tom Of The Tae-End, in the civil parishes of Drumbeg and Shankill. Until the mid 20th century it was a dispersed hamlet based around mills and bleach works on the Colin River. Since then it has large-scale suburban and industrial development. The Kilwee area is within the council area of Belfast.
