Kilmacrew House, Down

Kilmacrew House is a late-Victorian farmhouse, situated within the townland of Kilmacrew, in the civil parish of Magherally, County Down. The house is a plainly detailed symmetrical two-storey three-bay late 19th-century (1897-98) house which evolved from an earlier single-storey farmhouse. A high proportion of original fabric survives. The original extensive woodland setting survives along with several early 19th-century farm buildings, dating from the original property. The house is the former home of Helen Waddell, noted Irish mediæval scholar and writer. The house is within the council area of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon.
