Killeaton, Antrim

Killeaton is a suburban area, usually considered part of the larger suburban town of Dunmurry, County Antrim. It lies within the townland of Derryaghy, in the civil parish of Derryaghy. The townland of Derryaghy remained largely rural until the mid 20th century. The village of Milltown lay at its west end near the parish church. The hamlets of Bridge End and Moss Side lay north and south of Killeaton House (1870) on Mosside Road. The post-war era saw large-scale suburban development around Milltown, but also around Killeaton House and Mosside Road, forming a second suburban settlement in the townland, known as Killeaton after Killeaton House. The Killeaton area is within the council area of Antrim and Newtownabbey.
