Kidbrooke, Kent
Kidbrooke is a former hamlet that is now an urban area to the south-east of Greenwich, Kent. Kidbrooke was a manor and a parish from ancient times. St Nicholas' Church was founded by the 12th century, but derelict by 1500. Kidbrooke Station opened in 1895 but Kidbrooke remained a predominantly farming community until the 1930s when the building of the Shooters Hill by-pass (Rochester Way) precipitated large-scale suburban development. Part of the ancient village green has survived. The area is within the council area of Greenwich.
