Kentish Town, Middlesex
Kentish Town is a former hamlet that is now a metropolitan district in Middlesex, forming part of the north-western suburbs of London. The settlement, part of the ancient parish of St Pancras, developed along the road from London to Highgate. The earliest reference, to 'kentisston' is from the 13th century. The area was developed from around 1840. The Forum (1934), now a music venue, was built as an art deco cinema. The Church of St Silas the Martyr, designed by Ernest Charles, was consecrated in 1912. The area is within the council area of Camden.
