Kentchurch, Herefordshire

Kentchurch is a small village in Herefordshire. The village lies on the east bank of the River Monnow, in the Archenfield area of Herefordshire. Kentchurch Court, home of the Scudamore family, dates from the 14th century. Sir John Scudamore secretly married Alys, one of the daughters of Owain Glyndŵr, in 1410. It is rumoured that the couple harboured Glyndŵr at Kentchurch during his last years. The Parish Church of St Mary dates from the 14th century, though was largely rebuilt by the Scudamore family in the 19th century. The village is within the council area of County of Herefordshire.
