Kent CA, Kent

Kent is a council area which forms the upper tier in a two-tier system of local government. The council area has a significantly different area to the county from which it takes its name, primarily because it does not include (a) that part of the county within the metropolitan conurbation (including Greenwich, Lewisham, Bromley, Bexleyheath, Sidcup and Orpington); (b) the Medway towns. There are also several other small differences between the boundaries of the council area and the historic county.
