Joppa is a suburb of Portobello, Midlothian. Joppa is now largely residential, but salt was once produced from seawater by evaporation at Joppa Pans. Joppa's skyline is dominated by the 165ft spire of Portobello and Joppa Parish Church. It is within the council area of City of Edinburgh.
