The area is notable for Jesmond Parish Church, Holy Trinity Church, Jesmond Dene woodland and the Royal Grammar School. The ruins of St Mary’s Chapel, first recorded in 1272, are in Jesmond Dene, close to the site of a reputed apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
