Ince in Makerfield, Lancashire
Ince in Makerfield (usually Ince-in-Makerfield or Ince) is a town in Lancashire. The earliest reference to the manor of Ince dates from 1202. The town became heavily industrialised during the 19th century. Ince-in-Makerfield Town Hall (1903) was designed in the Edwardian Baroque style and built in red brick. The town is separated from Wigan by the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, being otherwise contiguous with it. The town is within the council area of Wigan.
