Hundred Barrow, Dorset

Hundred Barrow is a prehistoric bowl barrow near Bere Regis, Dorset. It is situated on a spur overlooking the Bere Valley to the east. The barrow has a mound composed of earth, chalk and flint, with maximum dimensions of 50ft in diameter and about 7ft in height, surrounded by a ditch from which material was quarried during the construction of the monument. The name 'Hundred Barrow' reflects the selection of the site as the meeting place of the assembly of Bere Regis Hundred during the mediæval period. It is within the council area of Dorset.
