Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire
Houghton Regis is a market town in Bedfordshire, contiguous with the town of Dunstable to its south-west. Bordered by the Chiltern Hills, the town was once a small village that had its character changed when it was earmarked for a massive "London overspill" estate in the 1950s and 60s. The fifteenth century Parish Church of All Saints has an excellent example of a Norman tower. The former Squire's residence of Houghton Hall was built in the eighteenth century. The town is within the council area of Central Bedfordshire.
