Hornby Castle, Lancashire
Hornby Castle is a country house in the village of Hornby in the Lune Valley, Lancashire. It was developed from a mediæval castle and is constructed from sandstone rubble with slate roofs. Originally a 13th-century foundation, possibly built by the Nevile family. The central Keep tower dates back to 1520 but the house was rebuilt around 1720 by Colonel Charteris, and further rebuilt in the Gothic style between 1847 and 1850 by architects Sharpe and Paley for Pudsey Dawson.
The house is currently privately owned but the gardens are opened for special events on advertised dates. It is within the council area of Lancaster (Lancashire).
