Hook, Surrey

Hook is a suburban village in Surrey. A small hamlet at the start of the 19th century, Hook grew in that century, first as a favourite site for the villas of wealthy City merchants and later alongside the suburban expansion of Surbiton and Tolworth. The 20th century saw further developments. It is now contiguous with Tolworth to its north-east and Chessington to its south-east. St Paul’s church was consecrated in 1838. Hook is within the council area of Kingston upon Thames.
