Holford Hall, Cheshire

Holford Hall is a 17th-century timber-framed hall near Plumley, Cheshire. It consists of a fragment of a much larger timber-framed house built in 1601 for Mary Cholmondeley. A wing containing a gallery was demolished in the 1880s. It lies within a waterlogged moat, accessed by a 17th-century stone bridge. Pevsner describes this front as being 'highly decorated'. Holford Hall was purchased privately in 1988 and the hall and its estate have been renovated. In 2014 the working horse barn was transformed into a special events and wedding venue. It is within the council area of Cheshire West and Chester.
