Holbury Manor, Hampshire
Holbury Manor is a mediæval moated site, the remains of the original Holbury Manor, located in Holbury, Hampshire. The rectangular moated area has dimensions 245ft by 195ft. North of the moated area are two fishponds considered to be contemporary with it. The manor was created from open forest land around 1180. In about 1260 it was taken over by the Beaulieu Abbey as one of its Granges. The monks created the fish ponds. Following the Dissolution, the new owner Thomas Pace built a new house on the present site, to the west of the moated site. This house was rebuilt in the 17th Century and has seen further alterations in recent decades. The site is within the council area of New Forest (Hampshire).
