Hoar Oak Tree, Somerset
Hoar Oak Tree is a historic tree in Somerset. There has been a Hoar Oak Tree from time immemorial, marking the boundary between the Royal Forest of Exmoor and Brendon Common, also the Somerset-Devon border at this point. The original tree fell in 1658 and a replacement was planted close by soon after. This survived until 1916 when the present tree was planted. The present tree is just south of the county border, in Somerset. It is within the council area of Somerset.
