Hinton Priory, Somerset
Hinton Priory is a ruined priory near Hinton Charterhouse, Somerset. The priory was first established at Hatherop, Gloucestershire in 1222, moving to Hinton in 1232. The house was dissolved in 1539. Hinton Priory house (Historic England Grade I listed 1136191) occupies the northern part of the site and incorporates part of the monastery's gatehouse. The chapter house, with library and dovecote above, survives. Also standing is the refectory. Surviving earthworks from the great cloister are visible in an orchard and paddocks. The site is within the council area of Bath and North East Somerset.
