Hightown, Antrim

Hightown is a former hamlet that is now a suburban area, part of the larger urban area of Newtownabbey, County Antrim. It is within the townlands of Ballywonard and Ballybought, in the civil parish of Shankill. The hamlet, which dates from at least as far back as the early 19th century, remained a rural settlement until the early 20th century since when it has been surrounded by large-scale suburban development. Hightown is within the council area of Antrim and Newtownabbey.
