High Bride Stones, Yorkshire

The High Bride Stones (aka High Bridestones) are a group of prehistoric standing stones located just below the crest of Sleight's Moor, Yorkshire, in the North Riding. They are considered by some to represent the remains of two stone circles of a form known as a 'four-poster'. The eastern group consist of a single 6ft upright with three other fallen stones sprawled out close by. A smaller stone stands just to the east of the group. These stones stand on part of a rough limestone pavement. To the north-west, in the heather, are the stones of the second setting: three uprights which form what could have been a 'four-poster' with one stone missing. There is also a possible outlier further to the north-west. Over the moor to the north-west are the Low Bride Stones. It is within the council area of North Yorkshire.
