Heskyn Mill, Cornwall

Heskyn Mill is a 19th-century corn mill near Tideford, Cornwall. A mill has stood on this site since at least the 1300s, with the current stone building dating to the late 18th century. The mill is a good example of a comparatively sophisticated grinding mill, complete with two water wheels and four pairs of mill stones. The building is of coursed slatestone rubble with a pitched slated roof with gable ends and ridge tiles. This mill is also unusual in that in its later working history it had a dual source of power, both water and steam. It was last used in 1961 and later became a restaurant. Heskyn Mill has a remarkably complete set of machinery internally, with the restaurant fitting in around the machinery. It is within the council area of Cornwall.
