Heaton Chapel, Lancashire
Heaton Chapel is a suburban village in Lancashire. It lies north of the Mersey between Stockport and Manchester. Due to its long association with Stockport for local government purposes, it is usually considered to be a suburb of Stockport. The area is named from St Thomas chapel, dedicated in 1758. The settlement which arose around the chapel was initially known as Heaton Norris. Later the area of Heaton Norris parish developed nearer the Mersey became known as Heaton Norris and the area around the chapel became known as Heaton Chapel. It is within the council area of Stockport.
