Heaton, Northumberland
Heaton is a district and suburb in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland, two miles east of the city centre. The area is traditionally divided into High Heaton (the northern part) and South Heaton. It was formerly the site of the Heaton estate. King John stayed in the castle at Heaton (the remains of which can still be seen in Heaton Park) on a number of occasions. It is within the council area of Newcastle upon Tyne.
