Heath Town, Staffordshire

Heath Town is a former hamlet that is now an urban area in Wovlerhampton, Staffordshire. Heath Town began as the hamlet "Wednesfield Heath" midway between Wednesfield and Wolverhampton. It grew with the onset of industrialisation in the 18th century, especially after the canal arrived in 1797 and the railway in 1837. In 1850 Heath Town became a civil parish. For local government purposes, from 1895-1927, the civil parish was the basis of Heath Town urban district, after which it became part of the municipal area of Wolverhampton. The town is within the council area of Wolverhampton.
