MenuHazel Grove, Cheshire
Hazel Grove (or Hazelgrove) is a suburban village in Cheshire. The village developed along what is now London Road, to the south of Stockport in an area partly covered by four townships: Handforth-cum-Bosden, Norbury, Torkington and Bramhall. The village was previously known as Bullock's Smithy, after a smithy opened in 1560 by Richard Bullock, later the Bullock Smithy Inn. It was renamed Hazelgrove in 1836. From 1900 to 1974, for local government purposes, Hazel Grove was part of the Hazel Grove and Bramhall urban district. The village is within the council area of Stockport.
