Hay-on-Wye, Brecknockshire
Hay-on-Wye is a small market town on the eastern edge of Brecknockshire, known as the "Town of Books". The town has numerous bookshops, many selling specialist and second-hand books, which has made the town a destination for bibliophiles. Since 1988, Hay-on-Wye has been the venue for a Hay literary festival. Hay Castle, a mediæval fortification and 17th-century mansion house, looks down on the town. The town is within the council area of Powys.
