Haxby, Yorkshire

Haxby is a town in Yorkshire, in the North Riding. The settlement was established around the 9th century by the Vikings as Haxebi. Much of the current town centre is 18th and early 19th century architecture but significant redevelopment took place in Victorian times. The village underwent massive expansion in the 1970s. The town is within the council area of York.
