Harryville Motte and Bailey, Antrim
Harryville Motte and Bailey is a mediæval motte and bailey castle, located on an eminence overlooking the River Braid in the town of Ballymena, County Antrim. It has a well preserved truncated conical mound with a flat top. A ditch encircles the mound and is itself encircled by a massive outer bank. The bailey at the south-east is a high rectangular platform with a perimeter bank. It is believed to date from the 12th or 13th century. The monument is in the care of the Department for Communities. The monument is within the council area of Mid and East Antrim.
