Harryville, Antrim

Harryville is an urban area, lying on the south bank of the River Braid in Ballymena, County Antrim. It is within the townland of Ballykeel, in the civil parish of Ballyclug. The area developed in the 18th century as a small settlement just south of bridge over the Braid. The area is reputedly named from Henry O'Hara of Credbilly House. It developed and grew around the linen industry during the 19th century, especially after Ballymena Railway Station opened here in 1878. Harryville Presbyterian Church opened in 1902. The area is within the council area of Mid and East Antrim.
