Harrington Hall, Lincolnshire
Harrington Hall is a country house in Harrington, Lincolnshire, in the Parts of Lindsey. The original manor house was built around 1480 by the Copledyke Family. Little remains of the original structure except for the porch. The current building's form largely dates back to the reconstruction efforts between 1678-1681, overseen by Vincent Amcotts. The Hall's architecture is primarily 17th-century in style, although elements of its earlier history, like the porch, are still visible. The gate piers and walls are constructed of red brick and ashlar. After a fire in 1991, the hall was again reconstructed. Harrington Hall is a private family residence and also home to Harrington Hall Farms, which is a limited company involved in growing cereals, leguminous crops, and oil seeds. The hall is associated with Tennyson; here he wrote poetry to Rosa Baring (Maud) who lived at the hall, and reputed to have written his famous line 'Come into the Garden Maud' on the terrace of Harrington Hall gardens. The gardens are designated as a Grade II listed park and garden by Historic England, recognized for their special historic interest, and are occasionally open to the public. It is within the council area of East Lindsey (Lincolnshire).
