Hanham, Gloucestershire
Hanham is a suburban village in Gloucestershire. The village was a hamlet at the time of the Conquest and developed along the Roman road from Bath to Bristol (A431). Christ Church was built in 1842. Hanham has a strong Methodist tradition. Hanham Mount, north of the village, is where John Wesley was first inspired to preach in the open air in 1739. Hanham Methodist Church was built in 1851 by local collier families and labourers. The village saw substantial suburban developed from the mid 20th century. It is within the council area of South Gloucestershire.
