Ham, Surrey
Ham is a suburban town in Surrey, lying to the east of a large bend in the River Thames. The earlier record of Ham as a village dates from the 12th century. Ham remained a large village into the 20th century, during which it saw substantial suburban development. Ham Common has a cricket pitch, a pond and a woodland. Ham House is a 17th-century house in formal gardens on the bank of the Thames. The town is within the council area of Richmond upon Thames.
