Haltwhistle, Northumberland

Haltwhistle is a small market town in Northumberland. A Border reivers' Peel Tower, circa 15th century, is now part of a hotel. The town contains five Bastle houses (fortified farm houses). The section of Hadrian's Wall, to the north of the town, is among the most spectacular and complete. The town is within the council area of Northumberland.
