Halton CA, Lancashire / Cheshire
Halton is a council area. It forms the unitary authority in a single-tier system of local government. The council area lies both north and south of the River Mersey, partly in Lancashire and partly in Cheshire. The name was inspired by the ancient Barony of Halton which possessed land on both sides of the river.
