Halstead Hall, Lincolnshire
Halstead Hall is a country house near Stixwould, Lincolnshire, in the Parts of Lindsey. The first written record of the site is in a deed witnessed by Lord Theobald of Halstead in 1281. The Hall is thought to have been built by a member of the Welby family, according to a 1465 will. The current building dates back to the late 15th or early 16th century. It is believed to be a surviving wing of a larger house. The two-story, brick-built structure has a main range and a 16th-century service wing. In 1778, the Turnors of Stoke Rochford bought Halstead Hall as part of the Stixwould estate. Tenant farmers occupied it for much of the 19th century. Restorations were carried out in 1852, 1922, and 1966. The Hall still has 16th-century windows, a moulded stone doorway, and a fireplace with decorative carving. The Hall is located within a well-preserved moated site. Halstead Hall is now a farmhouse. It is within the council area of East Lindsey (Lincolnshire).
