Hainton Hall, Lincolnshire

Hainton Hall is a historic country house in Hainton, Lincolnshire, in the Parts of Lindsey. Hainton Hall has been the seat of the Heneage family since the reign of Henry III. The current hall was built in 1638, with significant rebuilding and alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries, including a stucco facing by Peter Atkinson in 1809. The hall is constructed of red brick, coursed limestone rubble, and yellow limestone. It features a two-story main entrance front with a large porch flanked by Ionic columns. The surrounding park was landscaped by Capability Brown. Two major fires in the first part of the 20th century and subsequent reconstruction, and reduction in size of the house and estate, means that its modern appearance looks remarkably different from the original. James Heneage commissioned the architect W. H. Hemmings to rebalance the external appearance of the Hall, with the work being completed in 1975. The hall remains a private residence. It is within the council area of East Lindsey (Lincolnshire).
