Hackenthorpe is a village in Derbyshire. The village is listed as 'Eckingthorp' in 9th-century Anglo-Saxon records of Derbyshire land-owners. During the late 19th and 20th centuries the village was noted for its steelmaking. The former Thomas Staniforth & Co Sickle works have been converted into small business units. Greenside House dates from 1825 and was formerly the home of the Staniforth family. Hackenthorpe Hall was built in 1653 by John Newbould and his wife Alice. The village is within the council area of Sheffield.
