Hackbridge, Surrey

Hackbridge is a suburban village in Surrey. The village takes its name from the Hack Bridge over the River Wandle. It remained a hamlet, built around Hackbridge House (demolished c. 1970) and its Park, into the 20th century. It saw large-scale suburban development during the inter-war period. It is within the council area of Sutton.
