Grosmont, Monmouthshire
Grosmont (Y Grysmwnt) is a village in the north-east of Monmouthshire. Grosmont Castle was established by the Normans in the wake of the invasion of England in 1066, to protect the route from Wales to Hereford. Grosmont was an important mediæval township, granted a borough charter around 1219. Grosmont Town Hall was built in 1832 by the then landowner the 6th Duke of Beaufort. The village is within the council area of Monmouthshire.
