Greyabbey, Down
Greyabbey (aka Grey Abbey) is a village, located on the eastern shores of Strangford Lough, on the Ards Peninsula in County Down. It is within the townland of Grey Abbey, in the civil parish of Grey Abbey. The village and townland derive their name from the Grey Abbey, a ruined 12th-century Cistercian monastery located on the eastern side of the village. Following the Dissolution, the estate became the property of the Montgomery family. Rosemount House (aka Grey Abbey House) was built from 1762 by William Montgomery. St Saviour's Church (C of I) lies close to the ruined abbey. It was built in 1770 and re-built, on a grander scale, in 1869. The village is within the council area of Ards and North Down.
