Greenhill is a suburban village in Derbyshire. Greenhill is an ancient village with ties to the monastery at Beauchief. The area was brought into the municipal area of Sheffield in 1934 and subsequently saw large-scale suburban housing development. Development continued in the 1950s and 1960s, notably with the development of the Lowedges area to the south of the village. The extended area of the village now effectively forms a southern suburb of Sheffield. It is within the council area of Sheffield.
