Gortycavan Mound, Londonderry

Gortycavan Mound is an ancient earthwork mound in the townland of Gortycavan, County Londonderry. The mound is well preserved and composed of a ditch dug around a natural height with material added to the summit as well as an outer bank. The central mound is 75ft across the summit. The date is uncertain though it has been suggested to be a pre-Norman raised rath. The monument is in the care of the Department for Communities. The monument is within the council area of Causeway Coast and Glens.
