Goggleby Stone, Westmorland

Goggleby Stone is a megolithic, bronze-age standing stone in Westmorland. It is dated to be from 3000-2000 BC and about seven feet tall, tapering from top to bottom. The north side of the stone shows a cup mark and consists of Shap Granite. It is also one member of the 'Shap Stone Avenue', also known as the 'Caris Lofts'. There are 14 in the group and this is the most imposing of them. It is within the council area of Westmorland and Furness.
