Glenmakieran, Down

Glenmakieran is an Edwardian Arts & Craft style house, situated at the south side of Bangor Road near Cultra, County Down. The house is within the townland of Ballycultra, in the civil parish of Holywood. It was built around 1906-1908 for Robert E. Herdman, a member of the mill-owning family of Sion Mill. Asymmetry, sweeping roofs and eclectic detailing are typical of the genre. It is within the council area of Ards and North Down.
