Giffnock, Renfrewshire
Giffnock is a suburban town in Renfrewshire. The development of Giffnock began in the mid nineteenth century: several sandstone quarries opened, which brought the railway link with nearby Glasgow. Giffnock's relative closeness to Glasgow coupled with the local industry and good transports links helped it to develop into a suburban town. The town is within the council area of East Renfrewshire.
