Gayton Manor House is a historic house in Gayton, Northamptonshire. Sir Francis Tanfield built the house in the 16th century. The architectural style is that of the reigns of Elizabeth and James I. In 1607, Gayton Manor was sold by Tanfield’s grandson to Sir William Samwell. Samwell worked closely with Elizabeth I as auditor of the exchequer and was knighted at the coronation of King James I in 1603. Between 1755 and the 1970s, the manor remained in the ownership of the same family. It is within the council area of West Northamptonshire.
