Gatley, Cheshire

Gatley is a suburban village in Cheshire. Gatley remained a small village until the start of the 20th century, since when it has become suburban in nature. It is now contiguous with Cheadle to its east. St James' church was built of local handmade bricks and consecrated in 1881. From 1894-1974, for local government purposes, Gatley was a part of the urban district of Cheadle and Gatley. Gatley Carrs is a Local Nature Reserve. The village is within the council area of Stockport.
